DIII.net (via IGN PC) has managed to come up with a list of features which will be reportedly seen in the new iteration of Battle.net which Blizzard has planned to coincide with the release of StarCraft II and Diablo III.
Ping support is a welcome addition as most players had to rely on channel bots in order to discern their ping which was represented by one to six bars ranging from green to yellow to red (good to bad) and even the infamous lag plug (no playing for you). The In-Game Voice Chat is a welcome addition. Hopefully it includes a mute button and an approve button as any one who has or currently plays Diablo II knows it’s only a matter of time before the spam bots roll back in.
Clan Support, Automated Tournaments, and the friends list are nice to have back from the general combine which is Battle.net as it is today, however, that’s not what catches our attention. What garners our curiosity is the claim of “Hack-Free Security”. As time has shown us, nothing is hack free. Someone always finds a methodology to cheat the system. How Blizzard plans to prove them wrong only time will tell and we’ll look forward to hearing more about this.
Although these additions have not yet been confirmed by Blizzard’s PR, we find them welcome and would hope to see them in Battle.net 2.0.
