GC 2008: Europe getting 160GB PlayStation 3 Oct. 31

PlayStation 3Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced at the 2008 Games Convention press conference that they will be releasing another SKU to the European market with a 160GB HDD, a €449 price tag, and €70 worth of downloadable game content.

With the sheer amount of downloadable content, digital distribution, and video game installations, it comes as no surprise that a new SKU would be made available with a larger HDD. We expect a similar announcement from Sony Computer Entertainment America. We would like to remind the readers that the PlayStation 3 features a easily replaceable a 2.5″ SATA HDD allowing users to swap in larger hard drives as they see fit, no matter what SKU they have.

Home Will Be Tied To Your Console’s Home Region

Slightly new details have emerged from the beta of PlayStation Home. Joystiq reports that users will be tied to the home regions of the console they are playing on. This is non-configurable. In example, players in Region 1 will be tied to players located in the USA, it’s territories, and Canada, players n Region 2 will be tied to players located in Western and Central Europe, etc. For more information about region codes, you can check the Wikipedia. This may present obvious problems to those who have imported their consoles.

God of War II Review

God of War IIWhen God of War entered our PlayStation 2′s the first time in 2005, it was an experience unlike any other. Kratos, a fallen spartan, gave himself unto the God of war, Ares, so he may survive. From there, players were thrust into pure action and melee along with one of the most intense storylines ever created. Though the original may have been plagued by some slight issues (Freezing disc after a certain point in the game, regardless of condition or unit), it turned out to be one of the greatest games ever produced and even took Game of the Year awards among some publications.

Sony Computer Entertainment Studios in Santa Monica are back for Round 2. The last time we left off, we saw Kratos claim the throne of the God of War. His adventure, however, was far from over. He angered his fellow gods with his wanton destruction.

God of War II makes extensive usage of Greek Mythology. From the sights you will see to the characters whom you will encounter, the larger than life aspect of God of War II only adds to the awe with which you will be inspired by during game play.
